1. XtremeLearning (http://www.uillinois.edu/XtremeLearning)

XtremeLearning is a training resource website providing access to over 700 interactive courses. These courses include training for NetAdmins (such as TCP/IP Internetworking, Network Security, and Cisco Network Technologies and Troubleshooting), as well as end-users (C and C++, MCSE Certification, UNIX, Java, VBScript etc.). This tool is intended to enhance the learning experience at the University of Illinois. It is free of charge to all University of Illinois administrative and support staff, faculty, students, and extra help. First time visitors to the site need to self-register. The self-register login information is available at https://hrnet.uihr.uillinois.edu/cgi/bluestem/doc.pl/xtreme/

3. IRIS URL Changed & HP Read Support Added

Iris has moved to new server for more reliable access. We now have read support for HP switches as well. We are working out some bugs in the write access, and expect to have that and a few other new features available sometime during the holiday break. Anyone who used the direct url https://www-s1.cso.uiuc.edu/iris3/ will need to change their links to https://www-s1.cso.uiuc.edu/iris/. However, the alias URL, http://www.uiuc.edu/ph/www/iris has been changed to reflect this, so those that bookmark the alias will be unaffected.

4. Contact Manager

The Contact Manager tool is now available at https://www-s2.cso.uiuc.edu/contact/contacts.cgi. CCSO has built what we believe to be an authoritative database of contact information, including network administrators, administrative (unit) contacts, and others, and the services they are authorized to use. Contact Manager allows contact data to be edited by designated contacts, and this will become the primary method by which contact data will be maintained. Current data should be verified very soon by network administrators. Networks for which we have incomplete or unconfirmed data will be flagged as unaudited and existing contacts will lose any authorizations until the data is independently verified. Your feedback about the tool is very important. Please send all feedback to gdf@uiuc.edu

5. Web DNS Lookup

A user-friendly web tool, similar to the UNIX command nslookup, is now available at http://mig.cso.uiuc.edu/dnstools/nslookup.cgi. This page allows users to lookup Host or IP addresses, zone/domain information, and network information, in a more informal, friendly interface than that provided by UNIX.
